Online Homeschool Curriculum

By Jacaranda On July 28, 2009 No Comments

Homeschooling is a very suitable education alternative to the conventional type of institutional schooling. Homeschooling must be compliance with state laws that is, children learn under the general supervision of their parents. Parents and children, conferring with each other, assume control of the content of their learning. It is a complete substitute for institutional schooling.

There are other forms of alternative education that, though they may be called “homeschooling,” fall directly under the supervision of school personnel. Examples are independent study programs (ISPs) or some kinds of “visiting teacher” programs for the infirm In contrast, while these plans may be called “homeschooling” or “home education” and involve the student learning at home, neither the students nor the parents have much control over the content. “Home Study” is often confused with homeschooling. Such programs are offered by school districts so that children confined to home or hospital because of illness or injury may keep up with their classmates in school.

Why Online Homeschooling Curriculum

Kids like using the computer to learn. The Time4Learning homeschooling curriculum gives students independence as they progress at their own pace.

Parents like that it tracks progress through the curriculum and helps kids advance by teaching with individualized curriculum that assures mastery of the skills and concepts that makes kids succeed.

Where to Buy Used Homeschool Curriculum

Shop Where Homeschoolers Gather

One of the more fruitful places to hunt for inexpensive books is the used curriculum area at a large homeschool convention, where attendees sell the books they no longer need. Friendly competition often keeps prices low, inventory is plentiful, and out-of-print gems are sometimes up for grabs.

Local homeschool support groups also host used curriculum sales run by their members. While the inventory may not be as large compared to a convention book sale, support group sales offer the added bonus of friendly networking with other homeschooling families.
Check With Homeschool Curriculum Publishers

Publishers occasionally offer scratch-and-dent sales of their books with minor defects, such as a stain on the cover or bent pages. The books cannot be sold at full price, but rather than let the books sit unsold in a warehouse, publishers will slash prices to move them out of inventory.
