    Spanking or squat your kids

By snowy_023 On April 19, 2010 No Comments

Did you experience to spank your kids if they are an out-of-control monster with a sense of entitlement? There is a huge different from discipline and punishment, because it teaches children to learn from their mistakes rather than suffer for them. Somehow, punishment focuses on the parent being responsible for controlling a child’s behavior, and it leads to fear and resentment, guilt and ashame.

Punishment is a one way street. And also, you may has not been giving them a chance to correct their behavior or learn appropriate response.

Discipline however is teaching of an acceptable behavior to children. There are careful ways in disciplining toddlers and every parent should be familiar with it.

Discipline encourage your child to control themselves from within. Parents should set rules that are aligned to their own values and beliefs. When parents discipline a child they may learn independence and to take their responsibility with their actions and to make their own choices based on mutually accepted rules.

Being a parent is complex and challenging. Good parenting requires love, patience, coping skills, empathy, emotional maturity, compassion, and education.

    Great Father’s Day Gift – Thank You’s

By Jacaranda On October 10, 2009 No Comments

Yes I know it’ far too late to celebrate Father’s Day or is it way too early to be looking for the perfect Father’s day gift but last week, well last Wednesday (today’s a Saturday), while I was walking around Mega Mall, I found this real  cute little book that says “Dear Dad“.

Dear Dad” is a ‘mini book’ that contains hundreds of little ‘thank you’s that supposedly is coming from a son/daughter and addressing each one to his/her dad. It’s really heart warming the very first instant that I read it. It starts from the small thank you for ‘creating me with  love’ until he goes to college and beyond… (beyond mean I haven’t read the whole book yet).

Having a 3 year old and a 1 year old boys, I did related to some of the little ‘thank you’ that was listed there. My wife even posted it in her Facebook page.

    • Thank you for taking videos and pictures so I can relive the memories years later.
    • Thank you for changing my diapers as soon as you noticed I was soggy, instead of calling Mom.
    • Thank you for telling me stories about your life when you were a kid.
    • Thank you for escorting me into public rest rooms.
    • Thank you for holding my hand when we walked down the street

Dear Dad is indeed a perfect gift for you Father, be it Father’s Day or just any other day of the year.
