The kids are already back to school and although they already have most of what they need, there may still be some things that they lack.

One great way for our family to save up on back to school shopping is reusing things that haven’t been entirely used the previous school year. A great tip however is to buy in bulk so as to stock up on school supplies and lessen the need for annual shopping.

A year ago, we’ve bought a lot of school supplies and stocked them up for future use. The idea was great especially since the price of products these days have increased. The supplies don’t expire anyway so it’s really great practice for anyone who wants to save.

To some it may seem important and useful and very helpful. To me, it’s just a way of trying to live life as someone else.

These books “help” you live a certain way. One that is presumably the “right” way. But the truth is, life is just one big fork in the road and you have to take a chance living it your own way. Why do you need to invest in such books when the best educator is experiencing life itself?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine. I don’t believe in self-help books.

A couple of years ago, almost more than half of the usual high school graduates chose to take up Nursing because it was said that the demand for them was high and it was a sure way to get out of the country. No doubt, parents were thinking the same and even encouraged their children to take up the course.

As of today, there is an over abundance of nurses and the choice that seemed to be once wise is now a detriment. Unemployment increased and some nurses are taking over professions that aren’t related to their field.

The lesson that we should note at the end of the day is not to be too eager to conform with what everyone else thinks is the solution to poverty.

Being able to bond with your kids and at the same time teaching them good nutrition at an early age is a great opportunity that could help your kids grow better and keep your family bond stronger. I was certainly ecstatic to learn that there’s a culinary class that allow kids and parents to learn at the same time.

It would certainly be a great opportunity for all families out there.

Today’s episode of Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs show featured workers cleaning up houses that have been left derelict over a year after a storm.

After such a disaster happened, a lot of houses were destroyed. Not only did the storm leave physical damage, it also destroyed lives and left a lot of smart professionals unemployed. The town had to start from scratch all over again and as the host interviewed these men who were cleaning the houses, he discovered that most of them were professionals. There were english teachers, private detectives, and others and all of them have adapted to the town’s situation.

It’s really sad to experience the ruins of the aftermath but it’s inspiring to see people, survivors, picking up the pieces of their lives and adapting to the new situation and not at all giving up on life.

Giving kids junk food for me is alright as long as the amount is being carefully monitored. Kids are growing so of course it is imperative that as parents, we maintain the responsibility of ensuring that they get the right nutrition to grow up healthy. The best way to encourage your children of course is to set an example of yourselves.

Everything always starts at home and as long as you eat well and right at home, children will tend to abide to that strictly.

Learning how to play music instruments particularly is great if taught during childhood. The knowledge about music will certainly be retained as the child grows and not forgotten unlike learning it when older.

Language is also something that not only can be learned faster while young but will certainly be remembered as the child grows. Personally I have not had any formal education on the different dialects in the Philippines but because I grew up listening to 3 different dialects, learning and speaking them today doesn’t confuse me and comes easily.

I have not been able to watch the live show where said child abuse took place. Thanks to youtube however, I was able to watch this particular episode and all I can say is, as a parent, I agree with the charges filed against him.

It was obvious in the footage that the child was not comfortable doing the dance and he was crying the entire time. Before the child even danced, I felt that the audience and Willie himself were not sympathetic at all to the child’s plight. The child was clearly uncomfortable and confused as to why everyone found it funny whenever he answered questions. And despite the tears flowing, everyone still insisted he dance and continued making fun of him. To me this is abuse as they did not even stop a moment to consider how the child felt.

I hope this particular case will be seen through and laws against it will be erected.

Although there are no debates going on yet about whether to buy your child kids high heel shoes, there will be soon. So I thought why not brought it up right here, right now so we parents can talk about it.

For those who don’t know yet, yes there is such as thing as kids high heel shoes. These are basically the same shoes you see worn by ladies but they are specifically design to be worn by a child!

The question now is, are these type of shoes safe? I mean, adult women sometimes trips or are having hard time (super uncomfortable) with high heels and now shoe manufacturers are releasing these kinds of shoes for kids?

For my personal opinion, i think kids high heel shoes is still new and that many parents like myself still needs to know more information about it, like is is safe for the kids? What good things can this ‘dangerous’ shoes do? Benefits?

How about you? What do you think?

What are blinkies? I keep hearing buzz about parenting blinkies and before that, trying to conceive blinkies.

But what exactly are these ‘blinkies’?

At first, I thought that these are special kinds of babies or something. “Why would they call their babies blinkies?”, I thought to myself. I did a couple of Google search about ‘Parenting Blinkies” or ‘Trying to conceive blinkies” and found out what these actually are.

Babytalkzone even has a dedicated sub domain for blinkies, and no, it’s not babies afterall. Blinkies are just… images that sort of blinks.

BabyandBump also has a forum dedicated to blinkies.

If you’re into blogging these are sometines called badges or the images you sometimes put on your blogs if you joined some directory submission sites like TopOfBlogs and Wikio and others.

Here are some samples of parenting blinkies or whatever is written on it:

You can tons of it here.
Enjoy!
