10 Ways To Childproof Your House

By Jacaranda On March 26, 2009 2 Comments

Though your children are that so precious to you but you can’t be with them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and etc. That’s why you should make your home children friendly in order for them to have more security and for us to have less worry.

Here are the some ways to childproof your house:

    1. Secure the room with lots of cushion. Just let your child explore your home, yet you should be aware of safety precautions they need for they are so innocent from different things from your home.
    2. As much as you can, buy furnitures or appliances with round edge design rather than sharp edges. Though we really don’t expect them to bump on it but it would be safer to have ones.
    3. Never leave an open medicine. As said before, they are innocent, and what they just know is all the things around them are toys to play with. They never know what danger it would bring to them.
    4. Be a “Closet Parent” literally meaning: always arrange your things respectively. As much as possible, all of those are inside your closet or anything close. Don’t leave anything in the open. Likewise, you want your valuables tore-free, scribble-free and scratch-free, don’t you?
    5. In connection above, keep small, pointed, dangerous (like chemicals) objects/things in safe place, necessarily keep them locked. Because your children have the instinct to explore things but these are things you don’t want them to, right?
    6. Always have them the proper things to write on. Give them their respective pens and papers to write on. Unless you love to clean your walls or appliances from scribbles from time to time.
    7. Give them appropriate toys to play with. Much better if educational yet if you don’t have one, because mostly they are expensive, make it sure that those are safe toys such as big, round-edged and colorful. So that they will not be playing around any appliances or important things they find in your home.
    8. Give them appropriate place to play with as well. As much as your home space can permit, a room or place that just fits with your child’s or children’s capacity not too crowded specially.
    9. Always keep the floor dry. Bathroom is not an exception. Aside from wet places are the living place of viruses and bacteria. Basically, the phrase and commonly title of the song of Jon Bonjovi, it is beyond doubt “slippery when wet!”
    10. Be with your child, always! In order to avoid accidents, and even if having a childproof home. Being a parent as well, you should also have time for your kids. Because with proper guidance and supervision, you can really take care of your children physically, mentally and socially etc. and essentially, you know what’s best for them.

These are just a handful of possible ways to keep your child(ren) safe from the dangers of you own home. I know there are tons more and please if you have an idea of another way please feel free to comment it here.

    Stay safe!
