Lots of childrens are picky eaters. And it is very difficult for a parent to deal with this kind of scenario. That when you try to give them a healthy and balanced diet and you will get a no-no shake of head and will tell you that they know what they want to eat and for you it’s a big guess.

Toddlers can become picky eaters for some reasons. Some are naturally senstive to taste, smell and texture. Others children develop picky eating habits by modeling their parents fussy eating habits. Theoretically, picky eating habits develop when parents punish, bribe or rewards their childrens behavior. Parents must plan on what is the best way to get rid of the picky eating habits of their toddlers.

When childrens are picky eaters, sometimes it is a response to controlling or pushy parents or to bribery. The battle over food can lead to resistance and defiance from the child. Ultimately, it child’s decision as to what to eat and not to eat the foods you have provided. Sometimes the toddler may eat very little or nothing at all, but they will make up the nutrition later that day or later in the week.

Some people find it unusual, but the truth is two-thirds of toddler have imaginary friends and this is healthy behavior at some point. And this is normal part of growing up.

One of the reasons why child have this what we called imaginary friends is because , it help build the child’s sense of security and comfort and a chance to exhibit confidence and bravery. And also imaginary friends provide companionship that’s not available always from real friends.

So instead of worrying to your child’s imaginary friends, think of the reward, and help your child reap the benefits of welcoming friends into their life.

So, who’s your imaginary friend?

There is no question about it; true happiness of a woman begins when she becomes a Mother. It is when you’ll feel miracle that there is a little creature in your womb waiting for his time to see the world…magical it may seem. But once you held the baby in your arms a feeling of excitement, joy and fulfillment is there.

You look at your baby from head to toe, checking if everything is OK with him, if it is possible to count the hair on his head you would. You will check his fingers, his toes, his face and when you found out that everything’s fine tears will fall from your eyes…AT LAST! After all the pains and sufferings, you will say…IT IS ALL WORTH IT!

A Mother will always have a special bond with their child; it is a link that can never be broken. As time pass by, you will always be there to watch your child grow, from the first step, first food he eats, and when you hear the first word he utter it sounded like music, it seems like an angel whispered to your ears. And afterward it’s time to bring your child to school, 1st day of school is a nerve racking experience for a 1st time MOM, as much as possible you wanted to stay and to wait for your son, checking on him if his doing alright. You’ll guide him on his assignments, and school projects, you will review him on his 1st examination, you’ll notice your child was not that serious about it, you’ll have doubts, fears, questioning yourself did he get what I just told him…

EXAMINATION DAY arrives, the mother is the one who is so nervous about it, the child arrives home you will ask him “so what happened, was it easy?” “Did you answer everything”, but the only answer you will get from your child was a smile on his face.

End of school year is drawing near and as a Mother you would like to know what are your child’s achievements or are there any areas that needs improvement…there is always a parent-teacher meeting at school and from there they will tell you the performance of your child and once you have known that your son is a part of the TOP STUDENTS in his class… an unexplained feeling will embrace you, you wanted to cry, and at the same time you wanted to scream and tell the whole world that my son is in the Honors list. I’m a 1st time MOM myself and happiness of being a MOTHER is endless…trust me it never end.

– Annabelle

<!–more–>

But there’s really nothing to write about really. It’s all about my son, putting his shirt on all by himself. That’s a new milestone on being a toddler. I remember my first post (or one of the first) about his achievement in Everything Daddy blog, him reading ABC – Alphabet (in random order) or singing the Alphabet song. Now, he’s able to put his shirt on

You may have not notice it but a toddler at play isn’t just a child at play. A child believes he is seriously at work. Growing toddlers are busy bees. They constantly want to do something with their hands. We parents only notice it when they starts to get our attention either they are too loud, too hyper or just too cute to not notice.

It is important to give our toddlers a thing or two to do to develop his skills. There are many activities that are perfect for toddlers so they can satisfy their curiosity and broaden their knowledge at the same time.

If you do a quick search on Google for “activities for toddler” (which probably already did, that’s why you’re here at my Collections of Todder Activities page), you will find tons of resources and ideas to give your child. We will be siting some example and suggestions for toddler activities by categories here.

There are toddler preschool activities if you are looking for things to do for your toddler who are in preschool already. Think of preschool toddler games that are both fun and engaging to play

Educational Activities at Home

Here are some very fun, entertaining and education activities you can do with you toddler at home. We personally do this, so I can say that it works for us.

Surf the internet – Internet is not a safe place for a toddler. That’s why I also recommend using the internet browser for kids - Kidzui

Play Dough – Let your child imagination run wild! You can create almost anything with a set of play dough. I bought a set of it when I was in Burnaby during a business trip and my sons loved it!

Learn the Alphabet - With Kidzui and Yutube, learning the alphabet can be super fun and easy!

Watch Education DVDs – No, don’t watch a Michael Bay film… Watch some Dora The Explorer dvds or Barney and Friends. Not only will toddlers relate to the characters they will learn a lot too

Fun Free Activities you can do at any Park

There are so many toddler activities to do at the park.

Ride a Bike - Either learn or teach your child to ride a bike or take your bikes and ride on the bike trails. Yes you can take the tricycle or even the power wheel. The kids love riding with mom and dad. Also, safety first! Don’t forget to wear protective gears!

Play on the playgrounds. Usually parks have this playgrounds with swings and seesaw. A toddler can play for hours with those things! Remeber when you were a child? Pack a little lunch. Spend half the day there or at least until nap time. Most newly built parks are equipped with toddler activities.

Fly a kite!! These are like great little Easter Basket “Stuffers.” It is tradition that we put kites in our kids Easter Baskets. Take the kite and fly it near the open spaces or baseball fields. You may not be the best kite flier but, who cares. It is about fun and spending time together.

Bat and Ball!!Just grab a bat and ball and throw it in the trunk and leave it there. You can always find an open field and play with your toddler. Purchase the appropriate bat and ball for their ages of course. Little boys love this one.

Kick Ball. Good old fashioned kick ball. I think I enjoy this as much as he does. Again just stick a ball in the trunk and leave it. That way you have it in there whenever you need it.

My son turned 3 a few days ago. He is an active, full of energy and happy toddler. However, I noticed that it’s getting more and more difficult for us to feed him during meals. Meal time used to be fun and an enjoyable moment for us – him sitting on my lap and feeding him. But now it’s hard.

I know I’m not alone in this dilemma that’s why I searched the web and found an ‘8 Tips for Feeding Toddlers” at http://www.creativehomemaking.com/cooking/toddler-meal-time.shtml

Here’s what I read:

If you have toddlers, you know how hard it is sometimes to get them to eat! Meal time is rarely a quiet, relaxing experience with toddlers in the house. With these tips, however, you may be able to coax your toddler into cooperating with you long enough to eat.

1 – Schedule regular meal times for your toddler. Toddlers function much better when they eat at regular times. They learn to expect when they are going to eat and will better transition into meal time.

2 – Sit down with your toddler to eat. If your toddler is having a meal at a different time from the rest of your family, still sit down with him or her to eat. My toddlers put much more energy into concentrating on what they are supposed to be doing if I’m sitting there with them. They enjoy my company and it makes meal time more pleasant for them to have me to talk to (they also fight with each other less).

3 – Don’t regularly feed your toddler foods you know he doesn’t like. It’s good to try to introduce new foods to your child, but do so slowly. If your child doesn’t like something, wait awhile to try to feed it to him again. Meal times are hard enough as it is without trying to force your toddler to eat something he doesn’t like.

4 – Don’t be afraid to let your toddler regularly eat the same foods. If you find something your toddler especially likes to eat, don’t be afraid to serve it often. My toddlers have several lunches that they enjoy, so I alternate those lunches so that they are eating the same foods, but not every day. Often toddlers get into a rut where they want to eat the same things all the time. This is fine, you can still slowly introduce other foods until they acquire a taste for them.

5 – To make sure your toddler is hungry at meal time, don’t let him have too much to drink or have a snack too close to meal time. It’s easy to lose track of time and not notice it’s almost time for dinner when they’re begging for a snack. If they’re hungry they’re much more likely to eat their dinner.

6 – If your toddler starts messing around at the table and playing with food or trying to get down from the table, tell him you will take his food away if he doesn’t settle down–and mean it! If he’s hungry he’ll settle down in a hurry.

7 – Having a hard time getting your toddler to drink milk? Limit how much chocolate milk he drinks so that he doesn’t have anything to compare the milk to. At this age chocolate milk isn’t really necessary and they won’t miss it if they don’t have it. I serve my toddlers milk for every meal, and they know they are supposed to drink milk when they sit down at the table. They get watered down juice for snacks and water in bed.

8 – No matter how messy it is, let your toddler feed himself. Of course I don’t feed my toddlers really messy foods, but it is a good idea to let your toddler feed himself as much as possible. It makes them be more interested in eating if they get to using their own spoon or fork. I’ve tried using toddler spoons and forks, and they worked for awhile, but my boys now want to use mommy’s spoon and fork. Give your toddler foods in a variety of shapes and textures to experiment with. You’ll be surprised at how fast they learn to feed themselves!
