Sickness

The whole family's been down with a nasty bug this week. We've basically been camped out on the sofa, watching TV.
Poor daughter got sick for the first time đŸ€§. She's been such a trooper though! If she's had a headache or felt achy, she hasn't let on much. Just a bit more sleepy and maybe a tad grumpy
(which, let's be honest, is totally understandable!).

The Christmas tree is down, most of the decorations are packed away, but honestly, the place is a disaster. Hoping I feel better tomorrow so I might be able to clean up the place...

Happy Holidays to you all! I hope you had a really nice Christmas. All the presents are opened and the Christmas cosiness continues, but I've already started thinking about the next step...

We said that our one-year-old doesn't really need presents, as we have a lot of toys that aren't even used. Older children, of course appreciate the presents, but it's easy to "spoil them" with too many things, and honestly, how much of it all ends up unused in a corner?

I prefer to give the children's savings accounts a real Christmas present instead! 💰

Do you save for your/other people's children?

Merry Christmas

It's a bit harder keeping the child from pulling down
everything in the tree , but with a small blockage of toys
we manage kind of well.

Hope you all get a wonderful day tomorrow, or do
anyone already celebrating Christmas today?

My Early Christmas Present: A Mountain of Diapers!

This was my Christmas present to myself this year! Libero has released new packaging, and as a result, stores were selling their old stock at a discounted price. Of course, I took the opportunity to stock up properly! Now the next challenge is finding space for all the packages, but that's a nice problem to have. You always hear that a child costs between 1.3 and 2.3 million SEK until they're 18, and that includes loss of income during parental leave and time off for caring for a sick child (VAB), so I try to keep track of what everything costs: diapers, formula, clothes. But so far, it doesn't seem to be too expensive after all. What are your costs like?

A New Perspective: Three Months, a First Birthday, and the Realities of Full-Time Parenting

Hello everyone! These past three months have been an incredible journey of being home full-time with my amazing daughter. While it feels like just yesterday I was cradling her as a newborn, we just recently celebrated her first birthday! Every moment with her is precious. She's a bright, happy little girl who, even at one year old, still sleeps through the night (most nights!), doesn't cry very much, learns things really fast, and is just absolutely wonderful.

And now, a new chapter is about to begin. With her first birthday behind us, we're preparing for a big milestone: preschool. In just a few months, she'll be starting this new adventure. The introductory "schooling" period at her preschool is two weeks long, and I know it will be a time of adjustment for both of us.

These past three months have also given me a whole new perspective on what it means to be a full-time parent. It truly is a 24/7 job. You can't take your eyes off a curious one-year-old for more than a few minutes, or you might find them climbing on something they shouldn't or teetering on the edge of the sofa! I can completely understand why some women get frustrated when their partners come home late or don't immediately jump in to help. It's not just about the physical tasks of childcare; it's the "mental load" – the constant anticipating of a child's needs, the planning, the organizing, and the ever-present responsibility for their safety – that can be incredibly draining.

This isn't to say it hasn't been the most rewarding experience of my life. It has, without a doubt. But it's also highlighted the importance of teamwork and open communication in a partnership. It's easy for tension to arise when one partner feels like they're carrying the majority of the childcare responsibilities, and I think it is very important to talk about it.
